President's Challenge

We are getting ready to start the President's Challenge testing for third through fifth grades.  We will be testing abdominal strength, upper body strength, flexibility, speed and agility, and cardiovascular endurance.  These tests are strenuous and will be easier for your student if they prepare for them in advance.  Have them perform curl-ups(sit-ups),  push-ups or pull-ups, and stretches for the lower body.  Also include a regular jogging or walking program for them (3-4 times per week for at least 20 minutes).

For more information about the President's Challenge:  Click here.

Pedometers!

Notice that the campus looks cleaner? My third, fourth and fifth grade classes learned why and how to use a pedometer and then while wearing a pedometer, pick up trash around our school. Many were amazed that within just a few minutes, they were able to take almost 1000 steps! All agreed that they could get the recommended 10,000 steps into their day.
